Omelet with Roasted Zucchinis
It's Saturday morning, I wake up too early and start my lazy day. I make my way from the bed to the couch and lay down after remembering to grab the remote control. I turn the TV on, but I'm not sure what I end up watching because I'm still sleepy. I enjoy my morning coffee and roll the first spliff of the day with excitement...
After realizing the TV had been stuck on some brainwashing infomercial for most of the morning, I quickly changed the channel to something more mind stimulating and ended up watching cartoons...
Lazy Saturday had certainly started on the right foot and I was ready to roll a second spliff and drink a second cup of coffee while Scooby-Doo and his pals solved more mysteries.... Lazy Saturday was also going to include a nap, a beer or two, a dip in the pool, another nap and it certainly wasn't going to include a trip to the grocery store...
The freezer is usually full of goodies meant to be thrown in the oven for a few minutes before being devoured by a few stoners in heat, but we had already run out of all the good munchies and between the bag of frozen spinach and the bag of frozen peas laid an ice pack that almost looked more desirable than the other options...
Lazy Saturday was about to come to an end: I either had to go out to get food or I had to make the best out of the few ingredients laying around the kitchen. Driving wasn't an option and I scattered all the goodies that would make a perfect breakfast: potatoes and eggs. These ingredient are always laying around and they've saved the day on a few occasions. I also noticed that a zucchini was resting at the bottom of the fridge and decided to cut it in slices and roast them to serve with what was now becoming a gourmet omelet.
I fried the sliced potatoes for a while with olive oil and Italian herbs...Peeling and slicing weren't part of the plan when I first woke up but I carried on and cooked a basil and curry omelet to go with it. I then topped it all with the roasted zucchinis. It was a filling and yummy breakfast but definitely put a dent in the "Lazy" day...

Baked Avocado with Egg
I recently saw a post on Facebook about this quick and easy healthy breakfast option...then I saw it again on Twitter, then I saw it again on Instagram... and I quickly realized that this recipe was going viral right before my eyes.
Of course I don't believe anybody who re-posted this recipe actually tried it nor will they ever, but the picture made them salivate enough that they decided to share this creation with the rest of the world....so I decided to test it for you.
I have to admit that this is a stoner's dream recipe for a few reasons: it's fast, it's easy, and it's a good alternative to the RedBull and M&Ms you usually have for breakfast.
Now I will say that calling this a "recipe" is a bit of a stretch since it really just consists of cracking an egg in an avocado half and adding a few spices on top before throwing the concoction in the oven for a few minutes...but that's why it's a healthy stoner's best friend: It is literally made in less than one minute and bakes for about 5-10 minutes depending on how you like your yolk (soft or hard).
Depending on how hungry you are, you might want to crack a second egg in the other half of the avocado...especially if you have the munchies
As far a being a viral recipe....I'm still a little surprised that this item would make people click on their mouse enough times to share it with the world but then again some people think deviled eggs are worthy of entering a cooking contest..
Enjoy this as a breakfast item, a snack or even as an appetizer.

Bagel Party
So if you have a freezer and a knife, cut yourselves a few bagels and throw them in there for emergency snacks. Sometimes it's just about having a few ingredients for our stony stomach to be happy.

Breakfast at "The Wood Café" - Culver City
You know I've been living in America too long when my drink of choice is Dr Pepper, when I dream in English, and when I wake up with a craving for biscuits and gravy for breakfast. This dish is usually easy to find at the small diners around town like Rae's or Pantry's and it always brings back good memories like the time my boss' wife cooked us breakfast before we hit the slopes during our trip to Mammoth (Warning: Eating too many biscuits before snowboarding makes it very hard to bend down to strap the bindings).
After discussing our options with my mother who is in Los Angeles for a short vacation, we decided to go to "Green Peas" which is a great restaurant in Culver City with great healthy and vegetarian options and orange or cucumber infused water. However, it seems like every time I try to take my mother to a restaurant, it's either closed on that day or it doesn't exist anymore. Do I learn my lessons? Do I call ahead to see if the restaurant is open? Do I try to make reservations? Nope.... "Green Peas" was being remodeled and we had to jump in the car again to look for another restaurant.
We ended up not far from there at "The Wood Café" in Mar Vista. It's a lovely restaurant with a fire pit outside for dinners and late drinks. Their breakfast menu was very enticing and the colorful dishes on the tables around me looked flavorful. The best part: they even offered a "Southern Biscuit" (eggs, biscuit, sausage and gravy). Their menu says (No Side) but strangely enough you do get a choice of potatoes or salad. After ordering my Arnold Palmer (Iced tea and lemonade for those of you who didn't know what that was) I started stressing out a little because my phone was slowly running out of battery (I never learn that lesson either) and I thought I wouldn't be able to take a picture of my delicious breakfast. As soon as my biscuits came, I took my pictures and started devouring my breakfast. It was probably the best biscuits and gravy I've ever had at a restaurant and the service was great (I ended up with two glasses of Arnold Palmer at the same time at some point when the waitress saw how thirsty I was).

Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots
Today I woke up wanting a good breakfast. However, when I opened my fridge and realized how empty it looked, preparing a fancy breakfast was out of the question. But I still wanted to be semi creative and I thought that wrapping my tater tots with bacon would be the best idea in the world. Of course, the fact that I had smoked a joint right before coming up with this creation only enhanced the false sense of achievement I was feeling from getting a new idea. The illusion that I had come up with something cool and original was later crushed when I googled "bacon wrapped Tater tots" and hundreds of links came up. It was very good nonetheless and I made an omelet with feta cheese to go with it. Probably only because feta cheese looked good on the picture.

It's all part of a Healthy Breakfast...
Buying croissants at 7-Eleven is always a good idea when you are coming back from a drunken night and you know you will need a big breakfast to soak it all up. However, they were not the fluffiest croissants in town and a few extra topping helped turn these dried croissants into one of the most delicious morning treat.
We cut the croissants in two pieces and toasted the halves in the oven toaster. We then added honey and slices of bananas on top of the buttery pastry and we covered it with some Ben & Jerry's Ice cream (“Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream.” It’s vanilla ice cream with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and caramel"). It was a delicious desert...errrr....breakfast I mean.
A day later I was going to physical therapy for my wrists where the doctor advised me to stop eating sugar for a while to help the inflammation. So I didn't tell him about this concoction.

A yummy breakfast after a "wake and bake"
I enjoy smoking herbs and I enjoying eating. I also happen to enjoy cooking when I'm stoned enough to want a delicious meal but not too stoned that I can't get my ass off the couch. I also love taking pictures of food. Not just the food I cook of course, but I do enjoy capturing images of my meals that will help me remember the cuIinary experiences I've had while I was stoned. Whether it is a delicious home cooked meal by my sister when she stays at my apartment, whether it's a hole-in-the-wall pizza place or some unforgettable take-out, or even a fancy restaurant where the waiters smile at the sight of our bloodshot eyes, tasty food is always a stoner's best friend.
I had talked about creating a blog for stoners who enjoy delicious food when they smoke instead of some cheap double cheese burgers from the fast-food restaurant closest to their place. And instead of taking the talk, I thought I'd just walk the walk.
Today I woke up and decided to cook breakfast. I don't usually get to have breakfast when I roll out of bed to get o work on weekdays. I celebrated the beginning on my three day weekend with a hot coffee and a joint and then I sat down in front of the computer. After a few minutes editing pictures from my last trip, I started noticing a growing need for some good food. I gathered all the ingredients for a tasty breakfast sandwich and got to work.
I did not take a picture of the first egg I broke that turned out to be all red inside. It was almost disgusting enough to kill my appetite. But I learned to overcome many instances in the past where my appetite should have been gone after witnessing things I should not have witnessed.
A slice of colby cheese on a toast in the oven, a cheese omelet with some cilantro, and some bacon on top. It could have been delicious if I hadn't burned the toast but I guess that's what happens when stoners cook: They forget things in the oven.
Note: The salad was just for the picture but I did eat it.
